How do you show employees you appreciate them?

Osano’s culture is rooted in building trust through everyday moments 𑁋 in other words, we act on our principles on a daily basis. Our environment prioritizes safety; speaking up with good, bad, or wacky ideas; giving and receiving feedback and praise; and being intentional with connection and communication. Showing appreciation  is more than just giving praise to us. It’s a way to ensure individuals get to influence their environment, have autonomy, feel trusted, receive fair compensation and benefits, and work with a manager that’s present and investing in them.

How are you creating a workplace of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging?

We focus on making Osano an inviting and supportive place to work. In addition to putting ourselves in diverse spaces to tell the story of our  culture to candidates, we also collaborate with a variety of job boards, talent communities, and external agencies who specialize in diverse talent. We put our energy into giving our team the real things they need to thrive. We offer fair pay compensation, inclusion and leadership training, career development opportunities, thoughtful benefits and flexibility for families, mental health support, and more. Building a startup is hard; that’s why we’re kind to each other and ourselves. Day-in, day-out, we’re trying to give people a place to do good work while also raising their quality of life and offering the potential to create wealth. Lastly, we build empathy weekly at our Show & Tell, where different individuals present their latest work, share what makes them tick, and teach us more about their roles. We use virtual monthly events, special interest groups, and an annual in-person retreat to get to know each other personally. Outside of our direct team, we also volunteer at and partner financially with nonprofits that bring STEM education and jobs to underserved communities.
