ABOUT THE COMPANY

Union is a seed-stage startup backed by NEA in the machine learning space. We are the drivers of the open source project Flyte (https://flyte.org). Originally built at Lyft, Flyte is the leading open source orchestration platform for machine learning based on Kubernetes. Flyte is deployed in production today by Spotify, Lyft, Gojek, Stripe, and many others. Union is building a managed version of Flyte following an enterprise open source model, similar to Databricks, Confluent, Mongo, and others.

First, we set it as a top line value. On the ground, we open our recruiting funnel to candidates who are diverse on many dimensions, and will take a chance on a candidate from a non-traditional background based on demonstrated life gumption. Our external recruiters know this and funnel us their best candidates from non-traditional backgrounds. We reinforce this with interview training.
