"Show we care" is one of our core values. This means we have empathy for our customers and for each other. We live our core values by recognizing employees that exhibit caring and empathy in many ways, for example: we have an award we give every month called Core Champ, which gives a shout out to an employee who exhibits this core value. Another way we show gratitude is by creating a culture of thanks and public praise.. We use a Slack app called HeyTaco, which enables employees to give "tacos" in Slack as a way to say thanks (tacos can then be exchanged for fun perks like days off, movie nights, etc). We have also given surprise, off-cycle promotions, raises, or custom swag gifts to employees for stellar performance.
The co-founders are former HubSpot alumni - a company known for having an amazing culture that cares deeply about D&I. Those same values we have brought to Wonderment. We're a small team of 12 today and just getting started, but we were deliberate about having a diverse team from the very beginning and ensuring everyone's true selves can be brought to work. This mission started with our investors even before we started hiring employees, we wanted to make sure we brought on diverse investors and advisors (our lead Partners are female and we required our investors also have diverse teams and portfolios).
I tell everyone that I want Wonderment to be the most rewarding job they've ever had. A place where they can look back and feel this incredible sense of pride for the work they've done, the company we've built together, and the change we've made in the world...but not at the sacrifice of their own health and well being. We encourage everyone to work in the way that enables their best work, but to take time for themselves when they need it. Anyone can take mental health days any time and know that life outside of work is equally as rewarding.
