How do you show employees you appreciate them?

In our weekly team meetings, we recognize work achievements and celebrate life events for every member of the team. For major company achievements (funding, technical milestones, new customers, etc.), we hold company-wide celebrations and give out a special gift to commemorate the occasion. During the celebration, we cut our CEO’s favorite necktie in half and mount it on the Milestone Wall in our office. We hope he runs out of ties soon! In addition to all that, we have a program for employees to reward each other with gift cards to different restaurants every month. Everyone posts a message on a dedicated slack channel recognizing someone else for their contribution to our work and culture that month, and we send the recipients gift card rewards. 

How are you creating a workplace of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging?

We have brought together a diverse group of incredibly talented people from all over the world. We strive for diversity across every axis, and we utilize a diverse team of recruiters to make sure that we can source a diverse pool of candidates for every role. One of the first tasks for all new employees is to schedule a one-on-one meeting with everyone at the company within their first month. We believe that by building personal relationships with each member of the team, you can overcome any potential tendencies toward exclusion and implicit biases. We also take employees out to lunch or do virtual happy hours in their first week to accelerate that process. We want everyone at ZaiNar to feel comfortable being themselves and having fun at work. For that, we start our weekly team meetings with an ice breaker question for everyone to answer and share a bit about themselves. We then end most meetings with a fun game so that we can all bond outside of work-related tasks. We also have all employees go through Diversity and Inclusion training to make sure they are aware of potential biases and how to be inclusive.
